Year 7

Students in Year 7 undertake site visits to several employer sites, including Fiddlers Ferry Power Station.  In PSHE students explore more about themselves with a focus on preparing for the future.  Careers education is embedded through the curriculum using U-Explore to focus on how different subjects link with jobs.

Year 8

The focus is on GCSE subject options for Year 8.  All students receive support either one-to-one or in groups with an independent careers guidance professional to help them consider their choices and motivations.  Students attend GCSE options assemblies to introduce them to each subject and all students and parent/guardians are invited to attend the GCSE options evening.

Year 9

Year 9 students take part in CV building workshops which introduces them to job applications and interview skills.  Students also complete enterprise activities to introduce and encourage entrepreneurship.

Year 10

Students are immersed in the world of work through a two week work experience placement which draws on the skills they have learn in Years 7-9.  Students also attend college taster days to explore further education and apprenticeships.

Year 11

In their final year, all students have a one-to-one interview with a careers guidance professional to consider their next steps and long term career goals.  Students meet employers, apprenticeship providers and further and higher education institutions at the school careers fair.  Students also visit local college campuses to experience different subject departments.
