Wade Deacon celebrate exceptional GCSE results 2025!
Students, staff, and families are marking the achievements of the Class of 2025, with 44 per cent of pupils earning a grade 7 or higher in English.
Overall, 76.3 per cent of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in both English and maths, with 62.1 per cent securing a grade 5 or above in the core subjects.
The school’s overall attainment score rose by nearly six points, with 81.5 per cent of all exam entries awarded a grade 4 or higher. Nearly 20 per cent of students achieved at least one top grade.
Brendan Hesketh, Principal at Wade Deacon High School, said:
"We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025 in their GCSE examinations. These results reflect their hard work, resilience, and determination, supported by the dedication of our staff and families. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, our students showed courage and adaptability, turning obstacles into opportunities."
Mr Deeney added:
"I am exceptionally proud of what this year group has achieved. Their results, in the face of such difficult circumstances, are truly something to be proud of. We wish them every success in the future and look forward to seeing what they go on to accomplish."

It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I write to introduce myself to you as the Executive Principal of Wade Deacon High School. It is an honour to join such a distinctive, supportive and committed school community.
I have always held a strong belief in the transformative power of education and my aim at Wade Deacon High School is very simple. I want us to be the best school in the country, and I will not rest until that has been achieved.
Young people should leave school with outstanding exam results. This will help them to acquire the powerful knowledge that they require to be successful in life and gives them life chances and choices. Our students also deserve a curriculum diet which is rich in experience and offers them the opportunities to develop character, resilience and independence. I want everyone at Wade Deacon High School to be safe, happy and to achieve.
