The main purpose of the GCSE food Preparation and Nutrition course is to enable the development of a thorough understanding of good nutrition, food provenance and the working characteristics of food. It aims to nurture students’ practical and research skills to give them a strong sense of independence and achievement.
Throughout the course pupil’s will be taught a wide range of skills and techniques, shown how to use equipment safely and efficiently and encouraged to test, modify, adapt and evaluate their culinary creations and existing food products.
The study of Food Preparation and Nutrition can lead to many varied career pathways including Chef, Food Product Designer, Dietician, Sports Nutritionist, Teacher and many roles within the hospitality industry.
