If the school is oversubscribed the following criteria will be applied:
1. Children in Public Care - Looked after children (often known as in care), or children who were previously looked after, but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order including those in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. Previously Looked After Children are those who were previously looked after but immediately after being looked after were adopted or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order.
2. Children of Staff – Where the member of staff has been employed at Wade Deacon High School for 2 or more years at the time of application, or the member of staff was recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. Parent(s)/carer(s) must state the employee’s name on their admission application form. Details will be validated by the school.
3. Distance - Pupils living nearest to the school measured using the LA’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) address point system which measures a straight-line distance from the unique address point of the child’s permanent address to the unique address point of the school in metres.

Halton Borough Council is responsible for the administration of the admissions process. Parents and Carers must complete a preference form online at www.halton.gov.uk/schooladmissions, which will issue an e-receipt email to you.
Online applicants can login to view the outcome of their application on 1st March 2025. Offer letters will be posted to applicants who submit a paper preference form on 1st March 2025. Don’t leave it too late – you may miss out on the school place you want if you apply late. The deadline is 31st October 2024.
Parents and Carers of pupils from other local authorities should complete their own local authority form, but may include Halton schools as preferences on their form.
Waiting Lists
The LA maintains a waiting list for Year 7 up to the end of the autumn term in the year of transfer. For all other year groups and Year 7 from January 1st, we do keep all formal applications on file should a vacancy arise for a particular year group throughout the school year.
