The Whitechapel Centre in Liverpool will benefit this Christmas from the kindness and generosity of Widnes residents, as well as students, parents and carers from our school.
In the build up to Christmas, funds have been raised via a school and community based raffle which has helped the Liverpool charity to secure vital additional funds. Desperately needed resources and essential supplies have also been donated by our parents and carers which will make such a difference to the lives of so many.
We have been working closely with the charity and their representatives, Mark & Kimberley Forshaw. Mark, a former student of Wade Deacon, spent a week with us, delivering assemblies and speaking with students in order to raise awareness of this important issue. The theme also provided the thread that ran through our Christmas Concert ‘A Million Dreams.’
Mark Forshaw said: ‘This has been a wonderful experience and I cannot thank the people of Widnes and everyone at Wade Deacon High School enough. We have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity and kindness which we know will make such a difference.’
The campaign to support The Whitechapel Centre forms part of our extensive charity and community support programme led by our students with Save the Children, Cancer Research UK, Ronald MacDonald House, The Prince’s Trust, The Rainbow Trust, Willowbrook Hospice, Water Aid, Merseyside Dogs’ Home, Young Minds and Together for Short Lives all benefiting significantly from the generosity of our students and their families.
