This year, our Year 7 Art Club has been running every Tuesday—and what makes it truly special is that it’s entirely led by three incredible Year 10 students as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award!
A massive shout-out to Mia Rostance, Phoebie Philcock, and Thea Hosking for the outstanding job they’ve done in leading, inspiring, and supporting our young artists. Their leadership and organisational skills have shone through—not only in the way they guide the sessions but also in the responsibility they take for keeping the space in perfect order (our cleaner even commented on how beautifully tidy the room is always left!
Beyond the art itself, this club is fostering fantastic working relationships between year groups, something that’s so rare and so valuable. Watching older students mentor and encourage younger ones is inspiring to see—it builds confidence, teamwork, and a true sense of community.
Art and creative pursuits aren’t just about producing stunning work (though just look at the incredible bug project pieces they’ve been creating! They also help develop problem-solving skills, patience, self-expression, and well-being—all while giving students the chance to unwind, explore, and grow.
Well done to everyone involved—keep creating, keep inspiring!
