On the 19th-20th March 50 GCSE History pupils took part in a visit to Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. They were able to learn about the experiences of WW1 recruits, who were trained there, in preparation for the Battle of the Somme. They also visited the Staffordshire regimental museum which included a reconstructed section of WW1 trenches and the National Memorial Arboretum where they paid their respects to those who gave their lives in the conflict. After a tough few years our pupils really enjoyed the chance to travel and spend time making memories with their peers, memories which I’m sure will last a lifetime.
